Hiroyuki TERADA : kokopelli+
“I’m always amazed by the riches of nature that still abound in the East Tokyo district.”
Growing up in Tokyo’s east end when it wasn’t very developed, kids would play around the riversides, catching animals and fishing. So, it was natural for Hiroyuki to want to be a researcher of natural environments and specialize in habitat conservation management. “City life shouldn’t leave an imprint of the natural environment. The riches of nature can still be found here.”
Kokopelli is the native American spirit that embodies germination and abundance. Hiroyuki founded kokopeli+ and has put together a series of nature experience tours and exhibitions in Tokyo, such as a kid’s workshop on the Nakagawa riverside, migratory bird watching from a boat in Tokyo Bay, and an aqua ball making workshop. If you have time, take a trip along the river with him to see waterfowls basking in the sun and fish leaping out of the water.
