Miho & Ben SATO : Riverboat Mizuha
“Float on the water! Enjoy a delightful cruise in a small boat.”
“While living in the U.S.A, I began to notice elements of Japanese culture inherited from the Edo era.” Both Miho and Ben had been working abroad as employees of a multinational company. They decided to start a new life together by introducing Japanese culture and scenery to foreigners traveling around Tokyo.
East Tokyo is well known as a canal city, with several canals running between the Sumida and Edo rivers that are used for distribution and transportation by the neighborhood, like a little Venice in Tokyo. They created the custom-made houseboat named Mizuha, a small luxury riverboat with a modern Japanese style to it, and trained for 3 years to get their boating licenses and become experienced boat handlers.
You’ll see a myriad of different faces of Tokyo from the water, including a brilliant display of the seasonal colors amidst the cityscape. The riverside is a sea of pink in cherry blossom season, and in the summer months the feeling of the summer breeze in your hair under a star-studded sky is breathtaking. In the autumn, you can relax in the cabin soaking up some exquisite art & craft, while sipping a glass of Japanese sake. In the winter months, watch the colonies of migratory birds from Russian from the warmth of the kotatsu heated table. The Riverboat Mizuha can be enjoyed year-round to explore the Eastside river city.
