There are five sake breweries in Itoigawa, each brewing sake using the differences in geology and water in its area.
Some of the breweries have won awards in global competitions for the past 10 years, and the younger generation in their 20s-40s is becoming the mainstay of sake brewing.
You can taste genuine sake and learn why Itoigawa selected a UNESCO Global Geopark.
